TCS World 10K Bengaluru
The country's premier 10K, and a genuinely fast one.
Dates, entry fees and routes change every year. This page deliberately does not publish a date — a wrong one costs somebody a race they trained six months for. Confirm the current year's date, entry window, fee and course on the official organiser's website before you plan anything around it.
What kind of race it is
A 10K taken as seriously as most cities take their marathon. It draws a strong international elite field and tens of thousands of amateur runners through central Bengaluru, starting and finishing at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium. Because it is a 10K, it is also the most accessible major race in India for a first-timer.
The course
A rolling city course through the centre — not flat in the way Mumbai's seafront is flat, but nothing on it is severe. Bengaluru's mild climate does more for finishing times here than the profile does.
Conditions
A May date in most cities in India would be dangerous. In Bengaluru it is merely warm, which is the whole reason the race sits where it does on the calendar.
How to approach it
Because 10K is short, everyone starts too fast and the mild first two kilometres encourage it. Run the first 3 km at target pace or slower and you will pass a great many people between 7 and 10 km.
Distances offered
Category names and cut-off times vary between editions. Official information: Procam International.
