The routes

Every one of these is a public place to run that Jaipur runners actually use. Distances are approximate — park perimeters in particular vary by a few hundred metres depending on which path you take, so treat them as a guide and measure your own.

Central Park

Rambagh / Statue Circle
~5 km loop dedicated jogging track around the park

A jogging track running the perimeter of the city's largest central park — approximately 5 km, which makes it the rare Indian venue where a long run needs no route planning at all. Busy at dawn with the city's entire running population.

Jawahar Circle Garden

Malviya Nagar / JLN Marg
~1.4 km loop paved circular path

A very large circular garden with a clean concentric layout, so laps are easy to count. Close to the airport road and popular in the evening.

Nahargarh approach road

North Jaipur
~6 km one way sealed hill road

A serious climb on road towards the fort above the city, used by cyclists and by runners who want honest elevation. Start very early — there is no shade and no water.

Heat, air and when to actually go out

Climate. Dry heat, extreme from April to June. Winter mornings are cold and clear and the best running of the year.

Air quality. Dust dominates. Winter mornings can be poor, particularly around the ring roads.

The timing advice for Jaipur — 05:30–07:00. in summer, do not start after 06:30. — is not a preference, it is the difference between a session that helps and one that costs you two days. Running moves several times more air through your lungs than sitting does, so a bad-air morning is a disproportionately bad time to train hard outdoors. The air quality guide sets out what each CPCB band means for a runner, and running in Indian heat covers what humidity does to your pace.
